Excellent food and service. Migas is one of my favorite breakfast dishes and they do it right at Casa Del Sol. The tortillas are first rate as well. I look forward to returning and trying more of their menu. Highly recommended.

Came to Cafe Del Sol for the first time this morning (May 7). I was craving migas so I did a web search for places close by that served migas, and I'm so glad I found Cafe Del Sol just a few minutes away from my home. It was excellent. I also had a chorizo & egg taco, and my wife had potato & egg tacos. The tortillas were obviously made in-house and were delicious. Highly recommended, we will be going back very soon.

Stopped in Sat. 12-18-21 for breakfast. As we entered we were immediately seated, along with our menu's, our drinks came shortly thereafter, along w/ Chips & Salsa. I noticed the cleanliness of this restaurant and all appeared to be well organized. I ordered Huevos Rancheros and a Chorizo & Egg Taco, my wife went with the Fajita Plate from their lunch menu. Her plate consisted of Beef Fajitas, Charro Beans, Rice, Guacamole Salad, Sour Cream, Pico de Gallo & Flour Tortillas. My plate had Two Eggs topped w/Ranchero Sauce, Refied Beans, Hasbrown Potoes, Bacon, & Flour Tortillas. Our food came out hot, fresh and delicious. I would definitely recommend Cafe Del Sol for anyone who wants a good meal. Menudo is excellent here. Also pozole is great. The service is very welcoming and attentive. I have eaten menudo at many other places here in Katy and I can say this is the best. Coffee is great also. Breakfast tacos are good. If you are itching for Menudo make this place a must.

My only complaint is that the salsa was not spicy enough for me but I love extra spicy so thats a personal preference.

I always get the street tacos. Always stuffed and perfect. The micheladas are why Im a regular. Finding a place that makes better micheladas wont be easy. Oh... and the frozen margaritas are great too. Not overly diluted.

So this place has been my favorite for years. YEARS. I am surprised it has taken me this long to post on here. I used to live down the street and I woud walk the 30 minutes to have a bite and get lost in their margaritas. Their fajitas are delicious, tamales are fulfilling. They have a wonderful salsa Verde. Frozen margaritas for life (add a shot on top and its SO GOOD) I wish I had photos but sadly I do not. I do not personally know the service side because I sit more at the bar but I do have to say that when the Abuelita comes around asking my fianc, "Mijo? Te gustas" it makes it so cute and sweet going there. Its the perfect hidden gem of a family restaurant.

They are the best i have been going to this wonderful restraunt since 2007 and the family and food atmosphere is amazing and we will continue to go. Wonderful restraunt and atmosphere.

Food was amazing and very authentic! My husband ordered the Chimichanga lunch plate and I ordered the fajita lunch plate. The fajita meat was extremely tender and full of flavor. You get a ton of food for the price and I feel the quality was great!

They loose the one star for a couple of reasons. They were cleaning out old food from the refrigerator in the dining area, their little girl was so cute but playing and touching all of the clean silverware laying it on the table , and they were mopping when we walked in so instead of smelling food we smelt cleaner (a huge pet peeve of mine). And the salsa had way too much lime in it

The owner (I assume) and his daughter helped us and were very kind and had good customer service.

This is our families Sunday tradition brunch spot. Every time we go in there, were greeted like we're family haha. The main guy knows our orders by memory. The food reminds me of my grandma's cooking back in Mexico. This is NOT Tex-Mex food & I will just leave that at that. This is hidden gem of Katy.

After a 50 mile commute to the location, on initial arrival, the facade was a little tired and somewhat unimpressive. Once inside, the atmosphere was aged but clean and warm, with police officers dining which is always a sign of a place with good to great food. The wait service was EXCELLENT, attentive without being invasive and very friendly. The complimentary chips and freshly prepared red and green salsa's were vinegar based, slightly spicy and DELICIOUS! We had queso with charizo appetizer, tamales, enchiladas, street tacos, and beef fajita papa nachos. As born and bred native Texans who know good TexMEx, we can honestly say ALL WERE EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD. Last but not least, the restrooms were aged but as clean as any public facilities we have ever experienced; genuinely clean, not covered up with heavy fragrances. Well worth the 100 mile round trip, WE WILL BE BACK!

Laid back atmosphere. Fast service. No wait at all. Happy hour until 7 pm. Tried the crispy shredded beef tacos and they we good. Lots of beef, in house fried taco shells (fresh out of the fryer), and decent rice and refried beans. Not the best Mexican food ever, but good for the price. My family will come back again. I would rather support a locally owned business than a big chain restaurant.

Really needed some breakfast tacos this morning, decided to give Cafe Del Sol a try - and we were very impressed. Awesome food! Love the tortillas and the salsas. We had the fully loaded torta, and several tacos. I recommend the sausage breakfast taco. This feast set me up for a very wanted solid Saturday morning nap.

This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants to eat here in Katy! The food is delicious along with their desert.. specially the flan! The staff are very sweet and generous. We have been here twice now. Fairly good food at reasonable prices. While the prices weren't as cheap as some had made it seem, they weren't bad either. I would say the food is on par with the other chain restaurants in Katy (chuys, jimmy Changas, etc.). They do have great micheladas which is always a plus with me. This is not a glamorous restaurant whatsoever, it has a laid back, homey feel where you don't have to dress up to go to. I recommend their fajita tacos and the fajitas dinner, the portion is so big that 2 people can share a fajita dinner for 1 and get full. I live in the neighborhood that backs up to this little gem and I frequent this place a lot, especially for breakfast. This is a family-owned authentic Mexican restaurant and they treat you like their family. As soon as you walk in they greet you and allow you to sit where you want and immediately start catering to you. Everything is fresh. This morning I ordered my fave, Huevos Rancheros, with eggs over easy and bacon. My meal came out is less than 10 minutes, piping hot and the tortillas so fresh, I had to let them cool slightly. The ranchero sauce used is slightly tangy, but not spicy. Try the chips with the homemade red salsa...one of the best around. If I come here for lunch or dinner, I love getting the enchiladas or the tostadas. The food has never disappointed. Definitely a place to try!

Just finished eating Chile Rellenos. Pretty good. If you're are looking for traditional Tex-mex, they fall a bit short. However, it is authentic Mexican food and very fresh. Today the cheese queso was very thin and soupy. The queso plain is a bit on the pricey side. Everything was good though and fresh. In the past I had their enchilada trio. It was very good but again, not quite Tex-mex. Probably much healthier though.

Came here yesterday for breakfast. The place wasn't too packed but it got busier later on. Our waiter took my drink order while I was walking in since my friend was already there which was fine with me. The faster I get stuff, the better. I had to ask for chips and salsa which is a little weird but then again it was like 1030 am so maybe they don't do chips and salsa till later. I ordered 2 breakfast tacos--bacon egg and cheese and I added potatoes and guacamole. My friend ordered the huevos rancheros. The owner also walked by so we asked about the tamales and he said we could order singles so we also ordered one pork, one cheese & jalapeo, and one dessert tamale. We really likes the pork tamale and we also enjoyed the tacos and huevos rancheros. The only slight issue was trying to get our bill at the end. There were only 2 waiters and one of them was also the bartender. Luckily we weren't in too much of a rush so it wasn't a big deal. I would definitely come back for breakfast, and I'd like to try their lunch/dinner!

This has been our go-to spot for years. I'm a huge fajita head and what I like about this spot is their beef fajitas are delicious and much more reasonably priced ( though I love these restaurants I don't always feel like paying their prices ... Pappasittos, Cucos, El Tempo, original Ninjas ) Never have to wait to get seated and most importantly HOME MADE tortillas!

My now husband and I have been frequenting Cafe Del Sol since we first started dating 10 yrs ago when they were off Franz Rd. The family has always remembered us and welcomed us with smiles. We've never had a bad meal here. The Torta's have become our favorite and their green sauce by far is my favorite from any Mexican restaurant we've eaten at. While in our busy chaotic lives in the past year we've stopped in maybe twice but those two times we were recognized and welcomed back right away. This speaks volumes to me and also reminds us we need to go there more often. I'm all about supporting family run establishments and Cafe Del Sol will always have a special place in mine and my husbands lives.

My family and my mother-in-law have been here a few times now and now I can include other in-laws as well. It is a great little place in s strip center for real mexican food at a decent price and healthy portion. My kids eat what they get (if you are a parent, you know that is - a lot of the time - a big deal) and they get more than enough. I have found every dish I have gotten there very good, hot and fresh. Last time I just shared something with my son: nacho cheese and taco beef covered french fries. Wow. C'mon - you know you love cheese fries - and adding taco meat to it... I'll admit, it sounds like a kid's meal (and that is one reason I got it) - but their thicker cut fries that were crisp on the outside and light/fluffy on the inside combined with the cheese/meat: fantastic and $5 for a rather large plate of them! Comfort food. Now if you wanted 'healthy' - don't go with my cheese/meat fries suggestion - but they have other things that will MORE than suit your needs/desires too!

I love this place! They are a small neighborhood restaurant with excellent food. Prices are great and they recently added some very friendly new staff. There is also a small patio if you would like to sit outside. Good for a quick meal, family time or just to get a yummy Mexican food fix. The green sauce is a don't miss!!

Best hidden little gem in the area, great food and service. I'll be returning, on a regular basis. Can't wait to try the breakfast items.

First time here, staff was friendly, ordered Mexican Chilaquiles, it was really good, I added eggs and steak, I should have left the steak out, everything else was really good. Will come back and try other items.

Recently moved to Houston from California and this is by far the best Mexican restaurant we have dined at in Texas. It's a small quaint restaurant (not decorated fancy) that serves fresh homemade dishes. I had the enchilada verde and a michelada that was amazing. My fianc had the beef fajitas that were extremely tasty too! I would recommend it to anyone who loves good Mexican food.

Everything is fresh when ordered. They don't disappoint me everytime I go there. The green salsa is the best!

Needed a Sunday lunch for the family and thought we'd give this place a try. It had nearly no customers when we got there. It was myself, my wife, my mother-in-law and my two children.

The server was very polite and attentive. I believe the owners and/or family was sitting near the entrance. The place was clean and quiet.

We ordered our drinks, decided what to get the kids, and then, as our drinks arrived, we were ready to order for everyone.

Lots of chalupas all around along with some chicken tenders for my daughter and a beef taco with some charro beans for my son. I got a chile rellenos with tostada. We also ordered some queso.

The chips and salsa was tasty. My son and daughter overindulged on that. The Dr. Peppers were good (well mixed) and my mother-in-law stayed supplied with fresh coffee.

The queso and flaky 'chips' it came with were very good. The beef was seasoned well on the tostados and chalupas. The spanish rice seemed to be made in house, very good. The charro beans were well seasoned.

My daughter ate most of her chicken tenders and dipped her fries (very good fries) in the queso. My son ate his entire soft taco and beans sans the tortilla itself. My wife and mother-in-law seemed to enjoy their choices. The poblano pepper in my chile relleno seemed to be a bit on the young/tough side, still decent taste. The ground beef, again, was seasoned perfectly for the occasion. I would give the food 3.5 stars on its own, service takes this places little higher.

There was some sort of tension - unknown - going around with the owners/family and our server (not necessarily between them, just all around) but it did not affect the service or food quality.

Short version: service was great, food was very good (even to younger eaters) and the atmosphere perfect for the time and company.

I would go back and my mother-in-law - who lives nearby - said she would go back on her own on some random Sunday in the near future.

Nice dog friendly place. We sat on the small patio with her dog and enjoyed in enchiladas and migas. We will return.

This was our first time here and brought my huge mexican family. The staff accommodated our table very well. The rice and beans taste homemade just like my mother home cooking. The chips and salsa were very tasty and the food was great! Will come back again! :)

After about five visits I can say this is the best Mexican Food in Katy hands down. The Chimichanga, Chille Rellano, Chipotle Chicken are all great. The green sauce is amazing with always fresh chips. The best part is the great service from either the chef/owner himself or one of the wait staff members. Worth every penny and will be back soon.

Nice family owned restaurant. We just moved to this area of Katy and were looking for a close Mexican restaurant to eat at. Food was good and so was service. Nothing fancy, but very casual/comfortable. Only suggestion is that the salsa have more spice. It had a very good flavor, but would like it more if it were more spicy.
We will visit again. Recommend.

We had our dog with us & we were looking for an outdoor eating spot in the Katy area that would accommodate the need to bring her with us.

They allowed us to bring our dog through the restaurant out to the patio.

I confirmed that they've allowed other patrons to do this & are very dog friendly.

They even brought her a small bowl of water without prompting.

It's a family affair; the kids handle seating & serving. The youngest brought us our salsa, and the middle children were out every few minutes checking on us, clearing tables, bringing food, refilling chips & water...the service really is great!

The chips and queso are house made flour tortilla chips. The queso is your standard TexMex yellow velveeta style.

Breakfast is served all day on weekends.

The food was really good, the ambience was standard Houston TexMex; casual, relaxed, family oriented.

Margaritas are the standard sweet lime & tequila mix (that is to say...good!)

The menu is huge. If you have a hankering for it, they offer it.

They have desserts, they're just not on the menu.
(The flan is delicious!)

The breakfast tacos were excellent. All of the ingredients were hand sourced; home style, grilled potatoes, skillet grilled tortillas, made exactly to order.

It's a great, family run, small business that serves good food in a casual environment, with fantastic, attentive service at a reasonable price.

Delicious food!!! Stopped by for the amazing salsa and handmade tamales to go and found a great Family owned and operated restaurant with authentic recipes. Nice little happy hour at the bar inside. Very nice atmosphere and wonderful staff and crowd. Try the Fajitas!!! Worth the trip!!!

Excellent! Headed home and wanted a good breakfast we were not disappointed. The chiliquitos were delicious and the green sauce fresh and tart. Be sure and ask for the spicy version if you like it hot. A must stop!
